This is how we start. Our community is building a new awareness about our relationship to homelessness and to each other. As a community of compassion we can face homelessness by choosing to see the beauty of person in front of us rather than the issue that overwhelms us.
Facing Homelessness was founded on and continues to honor a simple purpose: To invite all of us to come closer, and to contribute our unique passions and skills toward the effort of ending homelessness. It is with this purpose in mind that we begin our 1/5,000 Campaign, asking individuals, families, and businesses to each donate $100 toward the operations of Facing Homelessness Denver. The campaign was built with the goal to help support our 2021 Goals, including:
Mobile Services: Buying a larger vehicle, insurance and storage
Food Rescue: Includes usage of the larger vehicle, gas, storage and insurance
Climate controlled storage for food rescue and liability insurance
Motel outreach and food delivery to food deserts and the Senior Service Center
Funding the needs from gathering the stories from local homeless
Education at schools and companies about homelessness
Hiring our first staff members
Our 2021 Vision
With collective power and this funding in place, we plan to meet the needs of Coloradans struggling with hunger and homelessness.
Our Values
Community Partnerships/Diversity and Inclusion: We are stronger together than we are alone. We encourage ALL members of our community to have a space to come together regardless of race, housing status, beliefs, background, religion, political views or socio or economic standing. Together we are greater.
Advocacy: We use our collective voice to create a stronger understanding of homelessness, and we open up opportunities for the voices of our local homeless to be heard and perhaps understood.
Learning & Education: We seek to learn about and replicate best practices, assess our work, and incorporate lessons learned into our work. We also work to educate others.
Understanding: We focus on our unhoused friends experiencing homelessness by listening and responding to their needs- this guides the decisions we make. As a community of compassionate people, we can face homelessness by choosing to see the beauty of the person in front of us rather than the issue that overwhelms us. Each person should have a different path/solution or outcome.
Hope/ Having a Voice: We inspire hope for all by seeing them and hearing them. We can amplify an unhoused humans voice.
